The Desert Groove Story

How it began

Desert Groove Productions began in the high school bedroom of Jordan Nelson, with a stack of burned mix CDs and a bit of curiosity. Over the following 15 years, Jordan transformed that initial dabbling with music mixing into a thriving entertainment company that has taken him all over the state of Utah and beyond.

Beginning with modest house parties and school dances in his hometown of St. George, Jordan’s reach expanded during his time at the University of Utah thanks to regular appearances at college events and a stint on the university radio airwaves. Wanting to take his company full-time, he expanded beyond private and school-sponsored functions by diving headfirst into the wedding space, quickly growing this segment of his business until it comprised the majority of his event schedule. After over 200 weddings in the span of 4 years, Jordan briefly paused his company to attend medical school at the University of Central Florida.

Throughout his medical education and residency, he continued to hone his craft and perform at smaller, more intimate gatherings. Branching into the content creation space just prior to the COVID era, his DJ-focused YouTube channel grew to over 10,000 subscribers and expanded his reach even further. Now, having settled back in his hometown in Southern Utah, Jordan is once again ready to bring the people of St. George his characteristic energetic and fresh DJ style. Desert Groove Productions represents the newest chapter of this journey – we look forward to having you be a part of it.
